I used to have the online savings acct with HSBC the (5.05% APY). My last statement date is on 7/9, because my statement cycle was always on the 9th of the month. Then I closed my acct on 8/3. HSBC refused to give me any interest that I earned from 7/9 - 8/3.
They said it’s because I closed the account prior to the statement cycle date, which would be 8/9 if I had stayed there longer... FRAUD !! Never knew there is such a bank that would not provide any interest when you close the account. Be careful with this crappy bank.
Don’t get interested in savings with them just because they offer 5.05% APY. There are other banks which would offer higher APY and probably better service and FAIR. I will not put any money anymore with this bank nor have to deal with it. They probably will charge for every single thing that you ask them to do.
