Confused

Lets Recap first.


I have two HSBC accounts.


I opened these two accounts for me and my mother before leaving for the US .


Because we moved to New bombay My mother opened an ICICI account ..as the branch was closer.


I returned to India In january for a two month holiday. I left in March .


To date I have yet to use any of these accounts.


First up I asked them to send me the pin numbers on my debit cards , The pretty women at the bank said of course in 5 working days , It took two weeks. This after calling their damn call center , being kept on hold for about 200 minutes and getting nowhere . It made no bloody difference at all . they took their own time .


the day I recieved my pin, they informed me that since I was an NRI the status on my account would change, I called them and said that becuse my mother was not an NRI it should remain a local account. The american accented call center executive said yes and asks me to have a good day .


the very same day the ATM ate up my card.


Next day at the bank it is confirmed that the status of the account was indeed changed. WHich is why my account is inactive , and the card doesnt work.


MOve forward to another two weeks when my debit card arrives. Another ten days before my PIn arrives. I am delighted .


I deposit cheques in my name in the account. all of them bounce.


the next day I ask the bank why. They tell me they’ve removed my name from the account . Again I ask why . they say because I am an NRI. I tell them that less than two days ago we spoke on that issue and nothing was mentioned, and it was all sorted out. They aplogise and ask me to open a new account,


another two weeks . and I recieve my card . another ten days and I recieve my pin.


I remove all the funds from my accounts , transfer them to another bank and leave for the US the next day .


I get about 1500 hundred calls from the bank asking me to invest in their mutual funds and insurance schemes.


I ask them to have a good day .
