HTC Desire 500 Review

Never ever trust HTC brand, I had a very bitter experience with my desire 500. Even though I had a lot of suggestions to go with iPhone or Samsung I still opted HTC for its looks and reputation, I have ordered a HTC desire 500 for 19000 rupees from Flipkart on November 10.

Initially the phones works great without any problem, but once you install some heavy apps and games then it shows us its true colors.

Some of the major advantages why I opted this mobile:

1.Premium build quality which gives the phone a rich look. The phone feels very premium, lightweight to hold as well as tops in the design department

2.Dual sim(GSM+GSM) which was my priority requirement.

3.In built Beats Audio

4.Low light capture of 8 MP Camera

These were the main reasons to consider this mobile. While buying desire 500 the above mentioned features were only in my mind so without any other option I had ordered this.

Even though I’m satisfied with the features that I have mentioned, there were some other major problems in desire 500 that totally disappointed me:

1.4 GB internal memory gives only 1 GB for installing apps and games, and the remaining space for storage. Which in maximum I could install only 12-13 applications for 20000 rupees mobile.

2.Video playback is worse compared to any mobile, it could not even play 720p videos at better frame rate.

3.HTC sense interface is not that catchy compared to Samsung touchwiz, it takes a lot of time to get habituated. It resembles almost the Google stock operating system and lacks the widget notifications.

4.Camera has a good focus and great low light capture sensitivity but not up to the standards at day light conditions, I have clearly compared to 8MP Samsung mobiles.

5.Beats audio is an added advantage for HTC mobiles but prefer a better headset for this handset because the provided earphones are just good for nothing. They don’t sound good neither they sit comfortable in ears. So I have purchased Skullcandy earphones for my mobile and they sound really good.

6.The most irritating part of the mobile is the battery performance, it does not even last for 6 hours if you use it in heavy mode. 1800 mah doesn’t last much for HTC’s mobile strength. For normal use it lasts around 8 to 9 hrs, but still charging twice a day is must.

7.Finally value for money is what matters for everyone, clearly with my personal experience any one can decide that desire 500 is not worth of 19000 rupees. So please stay away from this crap.

Some alternatives for desire 500 are Samsung Galaxy Quattro, Sony Xperia C & Sony Xperia L

Initially when I don’t know anything about desire 500 I faced some software problem and took it to service center, one thing is that finding an HTC service center is like fetching water in a desert. Any how I reached HTC service center and shocked the way they responded.

Even though it was a small issue the staff behaved in a rude way. So keeping all things in my mind I never recommend HTC Desire 500. In my research I found that only HTC One is a good capable Smartphone.
