Best Android starter smartphone

Hi, I bought this phone by end of may 2012. Initially I had a plan of buying samsung galaxy ace plus for its 1ghz processor and 512mb ram When I saw it while buying a phone for my friend. but it was quiet expensive(15k) my budget was 10k so I was searching a phone in this category. Nokia was out of options as it is still using the mundane symbian OS which has become very common.

Sony ericsson was out of options as all phones in this range had screens not more than 2.8inches. so my only option was samsung. but the phones under 10k were not so impressive. SO with a lot of confusions I went to the store and asked for the android phones within 10k. The sales person pulled this out and started explaining the features. Initially not very impressive. but when compared with SS models this looked very bright and had good resolution plus this is the only phone which supports flash contents. So with a bit of hesitation I bought this phone.

When I started using this phone I quite started liking this phone and satisfied about my choice. Pros

. The 600mhz processor performs very well. The Adreno 200 gpu lets you play games well. The touch screen is very impressive(As HTC is famous for their touch phones from beginning). silence the ringer with just a move when a call comes(i’ve not seen this feature in anyother phones. Also this is not mentioned in any reviews). Flip the phone to switch the from handset to speaker mode(distinct feature which i’ve not seen in any other phone. Also not mentioned anywhere).

Cons. I was very disappointed with available internel memory of only 90MBs which is not very big. though it is 3.15MP camera it is not very good. Music output is okay not good(As I was a sony ericsson walkman user I felt camera and music not very good).

No headphones are given with the device have to purchase separately. But for me the store gave the original htc handsfree as an offer along with insurance The preloaded apps like bollywood hungama, Saavn, Pico, friend stream ebuddy xms cannot be removed. All these apps are of no use for me but maybe useful for others. But have read that routing the phone removes this and also frees up some memory. I’ve not done this as this will cease the warranty. This is the only phone in this category in which u can play temple run no other phone in this segment supports this even galaxy ace plus doesn’t support.

I’ve not been successfull in using the GPS so far. Not only in this i’ve tried using them on higher end phones like galaxy S but was unsuccessful. Maybe it needs some paid application to use GPS.

Battery backup:with 3G data 24 to 30hrs without data service 50-55hrs.

Overall this phone is a good, budget smartphone.
