Not so magical

I got this phone as a gift. So I wont be able to speak on the value for money perspective. But being an avid user of Microsoft OS based phone, I was disheartened at first to find it NOT being a Windows Mobile. But when I started using it, I found it remarkably easy to use. I believe we are so much involved in the intricate complexities of such phone, at times we overlook the real simplicity. Coming back to the pros and cons of the phone, pros first.

  1. Lookwise the phone has won my heart. Just notice the glowing of the white trackball while incomming calls. The home page is neat and clean unlike any Wondows Mobile. The slide menu and the motion control was really neat.

  2. Surfing net on this was an awesome experience. It was fast and the wi-fi setup was really simple.

  3. Exchange Sync was an added feature that was like a blessing. Now I have my mails in the go.

  4. Sound clarity for incoming calls was good and so was the reception.

  5. Instant search was really cool speacially while searching for objects inside mobile and on the internet.

  6. Altough it do not give a file filder view, you can still have the drag and drop facility.

  7. Hot Swappable SD Card. But you have to unmount it first.

Cons:

  1. The mobile came locked with Airtel SIM. I tried Vodafone but it failed. Fortunately I had the right carrier.

  2. I still have not been able to figure out how to browse the file structure. Without this feature I will be really uncomfortable.

  3. Limited applications and especially lack of Android Market.

  4. Speaker sound is perticularly low. But I understand I dont intend to own a set of chinese speakers.

  5. Was feeling the lack of stylus every moment.

  6. With the type of screen resolution it had I was disheartened with the fact that it do not support most of the video file formats. Moreover there is no video player.

All in all, it do not cover for an official PDA, neither it meets the req of an entertainmet phone. I would say what it does best is browse the internet. It has the power to do so much more.
