Avoid at all costs

I am from Mumbai & use Vodafone 500 plan [500 mins/sms/MB - 3G] pack.


I am the sad & hapless user of the htc wildfire s.


CURRENT STATUS: "Touchscreen DEAD" Given for repairs at their Borivli Service Center on 07/09/2011 - It’s 14 day’s and they have no clue when will it get fixed - they keep saying that a certain part is not available. Is’nt this preposterous for a model that was launched less than 5 months ago.


I purchased my phone on 18/06/11 for 13449/- from Alfa - for 13.5K [ I do not have any problems with Alfa as I have dealt multiple times with them over the past 10 years]. In just over 2 month’s - the touchscreen became sluggish and extremely slow. Any calls that I made could not be terminated instantly - I had to keep pressing "end call" for more than 45-90 secs.


I have not changed / flashed ROM or installed any app that would have caused the phone to get sluggish & ultimately go DEAD. [I had installed Angry Birds & after 2 months uninstalled it; then Opera Mini; 3G watchdog; A Dictionary; Google Maps and an App Killer, so that un-neccessary apps are not running in the background all the time esp when I connect to 3G]. so these are very basic apps. As a last resort - I checked up on their website how to do a "hard reset" [even here the steps mentioned are inaccurate]. and also did a "factory re-set" BUT NOTHING IMPROVED.


Their customer care no sucks - gets disconnected within 3-4 mins after giving all the details. I have emailed my disgust to their Asia Customer Center and although they were quick in replying, they have not assured me of the time frame wherein I will get my phone back. I HAVE DEMANDED A NEW REPLACEMENT . highly unlikely that they will accede to my wish.


Their Asia Customer Care assures me ."We shall ensure the periodic update with you over the phone".NOT ONCE, I REPEAT EVEN ONCE HAVE I RECEIVED ANY CALL IN THE LAST 14 DAYS FROM ANY-ONE AT HTC.


Should I take up this matter with "Consumer Forums" - I really do not have the time or energy to go through all this. I am pursuing this matter on different forums and many have stated that at time’s it has taken more than a month to fix problems. Is this acceptable in today’s age!


This is the last I will EVER deal with HTC and NEVER RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.


Lastly, If you try consoling me and telling me that "this may have been a one-off defective piece" - I would never believe you. What matter’s at the end, is how any company & especially a global one at that "HTC" . sic! is able to handle it’s customer problems and on this front - they fail MISERABLY. There is no seriousness or professionalism left in them.
