The movie starts showing us a strict father called Angaarchand (Amrish Puri). He is a man who hates women and even has a no entrance tag for women on his house gate. He is helpful to anyone who comes asking for help. He calls his four sons- Balli (Jackie Shroff), Kishan (Paresh Rawal), Shakti (Arbaaz Khan) & Jaichand (Akshaye Khanna) whenever they have to go for a fight with someone.
On the other side, an old lady called Lakshmi Devi (the actress in ’’julie’’) lives in Anpara village. She lives with her sons - Pratap and Veer (Sunil Shetty). She also has a grand daughter called Anjali (Kareena Kapoor).
Both the families hate each other to such an extent that they dont like seeing either one and keep taking small revenges. The reason for this is that Balli wanted to marry Lakshmi Devi’s daughter. Both were going to marry but Lakshmi Devi didnt let this happen and they were going to shoot Balli instead of whom, Balli’s mother died. On the other side, to take revenge, Angaarchand killed Lakshmi Devi’s husband.
Both, Jai and Anjali study in law college. Anjali has to leave college as she is to marry the home minister. Angaarchand tries to break this marriage and succeeds. Poor Anjali has to return back to college where she is insulted a lot by Jai and the whole college.
She gets back home and her grandma, gives her a plan to act as if shes fallen in love with Jai. If Anjali does this, Jai will also fall in her trap and then he will be yearning for marriage with Anjali, which Lakshmi Devi wont let happen and as a result, this will prove revenge on Angaarchand.
Plans go on ..but something else happens...to know what..watch the movie..
It is indeed a rib tickling comedy. Movie worth watching once.
Amrish Puri as the old father who is seeking every opportunity for a revenge has given a good performance.
Jackie Shroff and Arbaaz Khan have very small roles which they too have carried on very well.
Paresh Rawal hasnt forgotten how to make you giggle and hes as excellent as always.
Shakti Kapoor , as Anjali’s father too has a limited role.
Arshad Warsi as Jai’s friend (lucky) has given an excellent performance and every time he is on screen, you cant help control your laughter!
Akshaye Khanna with another comedy has done well, his first one being Hungama. Kareena too has lots of hilarious moments and emotional scenes as well. She looks pretty good with such simple roles as well.
Lakshmi Devi becomes a little irritating in between but as far as you can handle it, its alright.
The only 2 negative points in the movie are its end and the number of useless songs fitted here and there.
Make sure you watch it once.
