Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is another one of those emotional ones that make you cry every second. Although the movie won awards at each and every awards function, personally, I don’t think the film was anything above an average, semihit at the maximum.
The Story
The story very typical to Bollywood films- a boy and a girl fall in love with each other, and the parents become a thorn in their side. But I’ll give the story in detail:

A boy from Italy (Salman) comes down to India to learn music from a renowned sangeetkar. The sangeetkar has a beautiful daughter (Ash), who falls in love with the `dude` from Italy. But when her father comes to know of their hidden love relationship, he tells Salman to go back to Italy, and never meet Nandini again.
After he leaves, Nandini gets married to a lawyer (Ajay Devgan). But another twist takes place in the story when this lawyer finds out about his wife’s ex-boyfriend. The part after that is absolutely stupid, and impractical. This lawyer takes his wife all the way to Italy to make her marry her ex-boyfriend. Another turning point comes when Nandini falls in love with her husband, and goes back to her. And the couple live happily ever after.....

The story is hard to believe, especially the part after the interval which is impractical. Do you think that a man will ever take his wife all the way to Italy to meet her ex-boyfriend and get them married?!!! This type of humanity, actually stupidity, can happen just in movies!!!
ACTING
Most of the role is given to Ash in the film, whereas the role between the 2 heroes is equally divided. Ash acts well and this is probably her first hit film. She gave complete justice to her role.
Salman Khan has not taken off his shirt too many times in the movie. He has acted pretty well, and was able to make the audience cry with his dialogue-delivery.
Ajay Devgan shows no improvement from his previous film. He keeps just one expression on his face, and his dialogue-delivery is pretty commendable. I don’t think the movie will take him far, like it did for Ash.
The costumes are worth a watch in the movie and are typical Gujarati-type clothes. Ash looks pretty sober and simple, and the heroes also have good costumes.
The music and dance of the movie was a big hit. But the lyrics of the songs are a mix of Hindi-Gujarati. `Dhol Baje` was put in at the wrong place, but is the best song in the movie. So, is `Nimbooda`. `Tadap tadap` is just too good and is well sung by K.K.
The sets were also a big plus point, but the shooting has been done in Italy for majority of the part after the interval.
The story after the interval spoils the whole movie. Personally, this movie wasn’t good. Why?-`Coz nobody would want to spend money to see a movie which makes you cry throughout. I wouldn’t want to cry, lose my energy, and become sick by losing so much water from my body, and plus, pay money for all this. So, I would not recommend it. But if you want to see it, please come back in the interval b’coz the part after it is just foolish, and impractical.
