HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM MUSIC

Singers- Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, Karsan Saragathia, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Kumar Sanu, Shankar Mahadevan, Vinod Rathod, Dominique, Mohammed Salmat, Damayanti Bardai, Jyotsna Hardikar, Kay Kay, Hariharan, Ustad Sultan Khan(I copied this list from the official review)

Lyrics- Mehboob

Ismail Darbar proves his mettle with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Ofcourse after that there was Devdas with lovely bright and HEAVY tunes, but HDDCS was much more slow and peaceful to the ears. The movie was horrible but the album is great! Ismail Darbar always uses a huge orchestra and there is no exeption in HDDCS.

Getting on with the songs………….

1) Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam- title song

Singers- Kavita Krishnamurthy, Mohammad, and Dominique

This tack is probably the best one of the album! Kavita Krishnamurthy carries the song all the way through with her voice. She has done great justice to the song.

I love the slow tune and the raag used. It starts first with heavy orchestration, then the flute and the piano is played one by one and then Hummmmmmm Dil De Chuke Sanammmmmmmmmmmm Tere ho gaye hai hammmm teri kasammm teri kasamm! Listen to the drums in the whole song. The entire look of this song is soothing, peaceful and beautiful!

2) Ankhoin ki Gusthakiyan

Singers- Kumar Sanu and Kavita Krishnamurthy

I feel this song is very nice and Kumar Sanu sang it very nicely. It has a weird tune but a good one. The chorus also was very nice and so was the flute. Kavita Krishnamurthy was a good partner. Overall it was another beautiful track with a different melody.

3) Chand Chupa Badal Mein

Singers- Udit Nanrayan and Alka Yagnik

This song was on the same track as Ankhoin ki Ghusthakiyan to me because although the tune was different, it was very slow and…well it had the same type of atmosphere. Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik once again have worked gracefully together in this song. I like the part where Udit Narayan has to say Sharmake meri jaaanaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

4) Nimbooda- most popular song of the film

Singers- Kavita Krishnamurthy and Karsan Sargathiya

Ah… the first fast track I heard and that also a catchy one with Indian touch. Kavita Krishnamurthy once again guys and I’m speechless for this song. Another one of my favourites of the album. The starting of this album sounded like the beginning of Dola re Dola from magnum opus Devdas(which is also music directed by Ismail Derbar as I mentioned earlier). I also would like to mention the picturization of the song. Aishwarya Rai danced beautifully and Saroj Khan choreographed like never before or after(but Dola re Dola can remain a competitor).

5) Dholi Taro Dhol Baaje

Singers- Kavita Krishnamurthy, Rathod, Karsan Sargathiya, and Chorus

OK Well, for the first time I’m not saying that Kavita Krishnamurthy was the best in the song but I should say the opposite. I like the intro where Karsan Sargathiya says Khankhana and I should say the chorus play a huge part in the song more that all the others. Rathod did a beautiful job too with his big and strong voice. This is another fast and catch song. The drums(as the song’s title suggests) also is played with a lot enthusiasm. The middle verses are great. I guess this also a favourite of mine.

6) Tadap Tadap

Singers- Kay Kay and Dominique

We again enter a slow pace. This song was meant a to be a very passionate song and it has been successful. Kay Kay was good but not that great. Very few instruments were used in this one but and the theme was also played in. The song could have been better if Kay Kay hadn’t sung it.

7) Jhonka Hawa Ka

Singers- Hariharan and Kavita Krishnamurthy

Melodious and beautiful. Hariharan steals the song with his voice. I think this is one of his best sung songs till now. The track, once again is slow but wonderful. I can’t say much about it but I like it a lot and again one of my favourites.

8) Man Mohini

Singers- Shankar Mahadevan

I don’t like this song that much because first of all it didn’t have much of a tune. It was just two people in a singing competition. Futhermore, Shankar Mahadevan didn’t really sound good. It felt like he was just shouting to the top of his voice. He could have done much much better.

9) Albela Sajan Aa Yore

Singers- Ustad Sultan Khan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, and Shankar Mahadevan

This song is really my most favourite in the album. Mijra type tune and all the singers at their best. The drums at the beginning also were played ever so nicely. It was a… Sorry, it IS an all time classic. It has got a lot of depth, but it was very short. And Ismail Darbar at his best. This song can be compared to Kahe Ched, Ched Mohe from Devdas , but I think this is better.

10) Love Theme

Singers- Shankar Mahadevan and Kavita Krishnamurthy

Bad at first then goes good. Weird right? Well, at first it is just Shankar Mahadevan doing some Tudapapaa then he hums the real tune- hehehe heheheheeeeeeeeeeee and Kavita Krishnamurthy just goes aaaaaaaaaaaaa. It was pretty good.

11) Dheel de re de re bhaya/ Kaipoche

Singers- Shankar Mahadevan, Damayanti Bardai, Kay Kay, Jyotna, and Chorus

This track was pictured on people flying kites. The tune was bright, sunny, and fun loving. It was where you could nod your head a lot. I gave this song 2 titles because it can be called either. It’s known as both. Shankar Mahadevan sang really good here and so did the others. Again, this was a song where the chorus also sang al lot.
