Hum Tum …aur Hum Sab (Me, you…and all

H (Saif), with Mom (Rati Agnihotri) and ?best? friend (Jimmy Shergill) bringing up the rear, spots T (Rani) being hassled by her vivacious ?Sarson di Saag? mom (Kirron) at the airport, where the oppositeness of their backgrounds and characters are quickly established.

He proceeds to bore the stuff out of her on the plane, visits Amsterdam with her for six hours, renders ?Aaj Kal Ki naariya, muft ki beemariyan..? version 2004 and then they say bye at the airport, where he kisses her (full blown on the lips we suspect because though the view was not very good, from the way her head shook and the fact that she promptly slapped him, it was not likely to be an affectionate peck) and they decide to get on with it.

They both were going to NY (can?t remember why) and indeed meet up after six months in Central Park, where he is making out with another chick (Shenaz ?most wanted? Treasurywala) who turns out to be T?s school friend. That?s the end of that meeting and we fast forward to Delhi where we discover H?s mom is a wedding planner who has dragged him into planning a wedding which turns out to be T?s.

The well educated Yuva (Small B) T will be fetching towels for dishes out some words of wisdom to a bewildered H, but passes away in an unfortunate accident before H can fully digest the gravity of his utterances.

T takes up refuge in Paris, away from uninvited sympathy and when H manages to bump into her in a train, he takes on the onus of not only bringing joy back into her life but also getting her paired off to his best friend.

Ends up with them both getting paired after they realize how much they are in love. The NCPA apartment screenplay and dialogues where they discuss arranged marriage get a definite thumbs up as does Jimmy?s elevator quick speech that turns the cards. It never ceases to amaze me how there are always moments in Bollywood flicks, no matter what the overall concoction is.

Among the people reminding him of realizing he is in love and urging him to act on it are Rishi Kapoor who plays estranged father settled in Europe and churning out Indian tunes of old (which has the goras getting nostalgic!) yet again. He is also husband to the rather decorative Rati Agni yet again who has little to contribute this time around other than good looks captured in some sniffing cut-aways (for the uninitiated a cut-away is a shot inserted in between the main conversation to avoid monotony or join two shots together), contrasted with the loud and vivacious Bobby Aunty.

Not sure if all these additional characters needed to be there (hum sub ? all of us), as did the animated takes but the highlight of the movie definitely seem to be a lot of individual scenes that are beautifully written and enacted ? H and T?s fight in the hotel rest room after T?s best friend?s fiancée succumbs to the bottle when she realizes her spinster days are finally Khallaas (Isha Koppikar) and she is engaged to Jimmy somehow springs to mind.

It may all hold together, and I think Kunal Kohli may have a hit on his hands because the movie and the protagonists are very easy on the eyes, the music is very easy on the ears and the emotional soup fills up our hearts and eyes in individual servings every now and then (as opposed to building up and having and climax before the curtains come down).

Speaking of climax not sure if T had an opportunity to do a Meg Ryan in a restaurant or otherwise, faked or actual (they did make lau right?) and nothing very new or innovative here but if you haven?t had popcorn in while and you kerchief hasn?t got wet in a while there, grab a seat.
