My first Hindi movie in ages

I (shame on me) dont know Hindi that well and havent seen a Hindi movie properly before. This happens to be the first Hindi movie I saw properly and I kinda liked it. Since it was basically a comedy I understood all the dialogs completely without trying to (for me, thats really saying something, coz my Hindi is pathetic).

I did actually find it entertaining. The story was complicated and convoluted (like a PG Wodehouse novel) and it really didnt reach a great conclusion, but it was a fun ride.

I loved the tension between that Tiwari character and his wife Anjali. I loved the way they kept swearing and cursing and saying Hai Bhagwan all the time. I liked the ’fight’ between the two main male characters. I didnt care much for the actual comedy bit where the police guy beat up that guy and drove him insane. Too violent for my palate.

Speaking of rides, I happened to be in a 18hour long bus journey from Bangalore->Bombay, which is why I had to watch the entire movie.

Since Hungama seems to be rated as a mediocre Hindi movie, I am planning on watching a few more highly rated ones.

I figured out a couple of things I’ve always wondered about Hindi movies that no one cared to explain to me -- why they keep dancing, and how they manage to get magically transported from place A to B while dancing, and how their clothes change.

If I’m not mistaken, the dances represent flights of fancy and emotions, while the rapid change of locale and costumes represents thepassage of time and seasons. I’ve probably overanalyzed my first Hindi Movie tho, so the dancing round trees and what not is probably just for timepass.
