To me Hyatt Regency Kolkata has been a different experience altogether. The structure from outside itself had an appeal. This is the first hotel in Kolkata which has an elevated porch. You have to drive up a little before you reach the reception. The moment you reach there, you find the valets opening the door for you. You enter and immediately you find yourself in an European environment, very modern and very state-of-art. I noticed that the lobby was not well lit, seems to have a gloomy appearance. But it seems to go well with the decor. The front desk was different fro what I have seen in other hotels in Kolkata. I was told that there were gold leaves on that. I have gone there to meet one of my clients regarding my company’s project. I was waiting in the lobby when finally he arrived. We decided to have a light lunch at teh Waterside Cafe. So we headed for the coffee shop which was located downstairs. We climbed down the staircase and reached the Cafe. It had a fabulous view of the pool. There was waterbody all around. Nice music was playing. The buffet was still on. But we decided to have a club sandwich and diet coke. So we took a seat nearby the window which had a beautiful view of the lawn and the pool. The food was served within 10-12 minutes which seems to be well within the international standard. It was very nicely prepared. And the courteous behaviour of the staff made it much more pleasant. We had a good discussion on our project and the calm and quiet atmosphere of the Cafe was really soothing.
I have seen the rooms of the Hyatt which are really spacious and is very modern. The bathroom is the most important attraction. I have seen many hotels where bathrooms seems to be congested. But the bathroom at Hyatt has separate dry and wet areas, which makes it look really large. The colour scheme also suits the rooms. The valentino marble and the wash basin adds beauty to the bathroom. In the room amenities provided are good enough to serve the prupose of a Business Traveller. The data port connections beside the bed and on teh reading table are startegically positioned. The bedside lamps are very modern and sleek.
Altogether, Hyatt Regency Kolkata has a lot to offer to the residents as well as the food lovers in Kolkata. The atrium adds more to the inner beauty of the hotel.
