Linkin Park: Great Band, Great Album

When I first heard about Linkin Park, I wasn’t all that excited because, from what I heard, they were just another rock band. But, curious and a BIG fan of rock music, I decided to check ’em out.

My first impression after I heard their song ’Papercut’ on the radio was ’’Wow, this is definetly gonna be one of my favorite bands!’’, and MAN, was I right!

For Christmas that year my mom bought me their debut CD, ’Hybrid Theory’, after hearing me talk about what a great band they were for the past 6 months. I hurriedly listened to the entier CD and absolutley LOVED it.

’Papercut’, the first song on the CD, is a great first song for anybody who hasn’t heard Linkin Park before. It clearly shows the different collaborations of genres, including rock, rap, metal, all that other cool stuff. It also represents the harder and softer sides of each song; Chester’s softer (sometimes, anyways) voice, and Mike’s emceeing. Overall, 10/10 on this one.

Now, the next song ’One Step Closer’ doesn’t have a whole lot of softer voice in it, so all you head-bangers, here’s your song off the CD. Personally, I love the song because it shows that LP isn’t only softer rock and rap, but also hard rock.

’With You’ is a great song about two people who fight when their with each other, but can’t stand being apart. It has great lyrics and the beat is really catchy. It’s actually one of their best songs on the album.

The next song on the album really caught my attention (in a good way). ’Points of Authority’ is rather different than any other song on the CD (mainly the beginning), but that’s what makes it fun to listen to. It’s a really cool song, a must hear for all LP fans!

’Crawling’, one of LP’s singles off the album, also popped out at me. The beginning is a very soft, catchy melody, though it wouldn’t have fit into a pop song and was sort of strange after listening to all the other songs, until Chester comes in screaming lyrics about being paranoid and up-tight because of all the mistakes someone made in the past. Definetly a 10 out of 10.

’Runaway’ is a song about a person who is pretty much fed up with all the disappointments of life and the hardships it brings and just wants to run away from it all. Another great song on a great album.

The next song, ’By Myself’, is by far one of the best songs on the album. It’s pure hard rock and and rap. Chester’s vocals are awesome in this song, and the song itself is great. I’d definetly recommend this song being one of the first you listen off the album, although it wasn’t one of their singles. Definetly a 10/10 on this song (can ya tell it’s one of my favorites?)

I think everyone has heard this song before. ’In The End’, the guys’ best single is a great song with very meaningful https://lyrics. The song’s about how some people feel that no matter you do, it doesn’t matter in the end (hence the name). This is one of LP’s best and most meaningful songs.

’A Place For My Head’ is absloutley awesome. There’s really no other way to explain it. It has great lyrics, a wonderful beat and sound...awesome.

The next track is called ’Forgotten’. It has my exact same thoughts as ’By Myself’. 10/10, great lyrics, pure hard rock beat.....

’Cure For The Itch’ is a solo by (you guessed it) everyone’s favorite......MR. HAHN!!! It’s an awesome song even without words. It starts off as a cool percussion beat, and slowly works itself into a kind of laid back melody. Even though most people think it’s the worst song the album, I personally think it’s as awesome as any other song.

The last, and by far best, song on the album is ’Pushing Me Away’. It’s not exactly head-banger music as ’One Step Closer’ may be considered, but even so it rocks. I would DEFINETLY recommend listening to his song first if you ever happen to get the CD. 10 outta 10, no doubt about it.

Well, after listening to me ramble on about them, you’d probably like to know who’s in the band, right?

Mike Shinoda: Emcee, Sampling, Beats

Chester Bennington: Vocals

Joe Hahn (Mr. Hahn): DJ, Sampling, Records, Backing Vocals

Brad Delson: Bass, Guitar, Backing Vocals

Rob Bourdon: Drums, Backing Vocals

Phoenix:Bass, Backing Vocals

Linkin Park is definetly my favorite band, without the slightest doubt. If you don’t already own the CD, I suggest going out this very minute and picking it up because it’s the best album out there right now. And while your at it, go get LP’s newest album ’Reanimation’, too!

Don’t Forget To Look Out For LP’s New Album That Comes Out In March 2003!
