U might ask why, after almost 2 years, i’m writing a review on Hybrid Theory, especially coz their next album has already been released...well, first of all, a review on a timeless creation can be written anytime...and I thought that it won’t be fair to write a review on Meteora, LP’s second album, without even listening to it!!! (i’m not joking...u can write a review on Linkin Park without even listening!!)
now, let me stop the nonsensical stuff and get back to the album..
Album : Hybrid Theory

Year : 2000
Hybrid Theory is named ’’Hybrid Theory’’ because the music of linkin park is technically hybrid, with a fusion of metal, industrial, electronic, hip-hop(and agreed....a little of pop too).
Verdict: Excellent
i’m confused about the songs included in the asian version..so i’ll write about whatever I remember (i’ll take the liberty of going in the order of my taste)
’’Crawling’’ - U have to listen to this in a closed room, with volume turned up high!!!! (headphones will do)..the lyrics go something like this ’’there’s something inside me that pulls beneath the surface...confusing, consuming...this lack of self control I fear is never ending...’’ and then... ’’crawling in my skin, these wounds they will not heal, fear is how I fall, confusing what is real’’
....chester bennington will be screaming at the top of his voice..and u wonder how he manages to keep his voice so clear even at such a high pitch (unlike other vocalists)...and the guitar lay is soooo amazing...and then the way electronic is used at the start of the song!! nad it’ll be treat for ur eyes if u get a chance to watch the video
In the end it doesnt even matter - ’’i designed this rhyme to remind myself how I tried so hard...things arent they were before, u wouldn’t even recognize me anymore and then ’’ I tried so hard and got so far, in the end it doesnt even matter’’
this song has energy man!!! again the same....hear it with volume high!! mike shinoda provides great support for chester’s voice and people remember him
’’One step closer - ’’i cannot take this anymore...saying everything I said before...all these words they make no sense, I find bliss and ignorance....and then ’’everything u say to me..takes me one step closer to the edge...the lead singer chester singing at the top of his voice...and in case u get to watch the video, u can see the passion with which all of them will be performing!!
ok guys....i know u are tired of reading all this bliss and ignorance by now....so am just goin to be brief abt the others....
points of authority - din’t like it initially coz it looked very rough but then the lyrics are great....
papercut - there are lyrics like ’’u, try to take the best of me..go away...u try to take the best of me...go away....good song
then there are runaway, a place for my head (another great song!) and step up..
then there’s another great song which i’m not sure is part of Hybrid Theory or not...it’s called ’’My December’’....this is the perfect song to listen to when u are depressed...and it has this sad feeling about it....one of my favourites...
well, I think i’ve covered almost everything (did i??)
on the whole, the album has a very, what do u say, evil feeling or depressed feeling about it.coz of the lyrics like ’’ coz in the end it doesnt even matter’’
...but then it helps me a lot to get into the mood and I think is good for ur health!!(this isn’t a claim!!)...that’s it guys...on the greatest nu metal band ever!!!!
well, next i’ll be writing on Meteora...i can’t believe I haven’t heard it till now ..another LP fan might just kill me for such a big crime....but then I couldnt, the main reason being i’m in mumbai and I dont have a walkman or a computer here....so I guess i’ll have to wait till I get back to BITS and then have a treat listening to them!!!
