Excellent airport, international standards

To be fair to Shamshabad, the promoters built the airport with all modern comforts, amenities and international standards in mind. It is spacious, has plenty of open spaces, good restaurants, having international handling agency Menzes and Bobba etc. However, its the government which has let down the people of Hyderabad, and the hurt the pride of Andhra desum. The connectivity is bad, the roads are congested, the new elevated freeway is no where complete and the outer ring road is a pipe dream.

Menzes and Bobba bring about international standards of handling baggage and passenger transportation in their ultra modern buses, but alas, it is not for the domestic traveller as the domestic airlines don’t want to pay the price of this international service. There are plenty of counters for checkin and the the clunky x-ray machine before checkin has been done away with. The Baggage carousels are international standard.I’ve used this airport for domestic travel as of now, so cannot comment on the international section.

The arrangement to ferry people to the airport is good, by way of Meru cabs and their buses which charge Rs.95 per trip to the city and back.Overall, I find this airport, best in class and hope the connectivity improves to make life easier for the frequent traveller.
