Hyderabad zoo is one of the few green areas in the city. From Indian standards it can be considered acceptable but compared to zoos in developed countries, it is far far below international standards. The animals in many cases need better care and the infrastructure is in poor shape. Progress and activities involving the public are absolutely non-existent. The potential to develop this zoo is incredible given the excellent terrain and a massive lake. Unfortunately, neither the leader nor the masses have the vision to do anything about it.

Suggestions to improve the zoo:
Replace hand painted signboards with professionally printed attractive ones.
Develop facilities next to the picturesque lake and include paddle boats and canoes
Invite private MNCs and family foundations to sponsor exhibits and facilities
Include a petting zoo and add facilities where people can interact with animals
Remove fees for cameras(video/picture). Why hinder free marketing?
Hire a director from abroad with a vision and experience working at other world class zoos
