My dad owns the Accent GLE (referred to as ’my car’ or equivalent from now on) and I have driven it a lot lately and would like to share some uninteresting facts about it. Firstly, it was only after I read the other reviews that I realised this car is very cheap (the price, not the car) for its class. I had the impression that it would be around 10 lakhs. Unlike what the others are saying, mine has a central locking and an almost decent music system. I live in a hilly area and I find that the accelaration/pickup is a bit insufficient except for the 1st gear. If you are driving up a slope and has to slow down, you will usually have to shift to the 1st gear to get going again in places where a Maruti 800 can easily shoot off at 2nd gear. But this shouldn’t be a problem for the plains. Tried to get the mechanic at the service station to tune the engine so that it can have a beter acceleration (i don’t need a high top speed on the hills. I have to stay on the road, you know) but he had no idea what he I was talking about. I gues they do that kinda stuff only in Movies and Need for Speed.
And about the mileage, I dont know how much mileage I get (I dont pay for the petrol, so I really don’t care) but with the AC on the I believe mileage drops about 50%. Coz I once went to the airport with a full tank with AC on and came back with a half full tank. Later I went with a half tank without AC and came back with a quarter tank. So based on that and other reviews (which says thay get 15km/l with ac) you could easily get over 25km/l without AC (with some consideration that my calcullation maybe flawed)
And one funny thing is that most of the people who has ridden the car said they were getting motion sickness. Some blame it on the smell of the leather seats (extra fitting). I dont know the reason but I sometimes get the feeling even when I drive. So ther is definitely something about my car that is making ppl sick. I dont know it it willhappen to other cars. Maybe its becoz of the hills and zig zagging roads, or the leather seats. Or maybe it my genes, I dont know.
