I bought Getz Prime 1.3 GLX version (ABS+Alloys) three weeks back. Drove around 500 kms and am very happy with the car. Getz is a wonderful car for city drive and have enough power for highway driving. I was apprehensive abt getz after doing research on internet. But did not want to go for sedan as my usage is 90% city. Have experienced the pain of driving and parking big cars in bangalore city. The only car I liked in the hatch back segment is Getz and decided to go for it. So far I feel its a gr8 decision. I feel its unfair to compare Getz and Swift as both cars are in different league.
Here are my findings:
Pros
It gives you the feeling of a big car and you should go for it if you dont need a big boot. Very spacious.
She is a beauty. Mine is white with alloys and spoiler. I waited for Prime to be launched and I was not disappointed though Hyundai increased price a bit.
Its very very smooth and comfortable. Gives you the luxury of a premium car.
Powerful engine. Perfect for bumper to bumper traffic. 3rd gear can handle below 20. Good Torque.
AC is very powerful though the power diminishes little with AC. Not an issue considering it is a 1.3 engine.
Dont worry abt the FE. I am getting 10-11 with AC during run in period. I am sticking to the speed below 90 kmph as recommended by the user manual.
Power Steering is hydraulic and gives good feedback. Tilt adjustable.
The car is heavy and the build quality is excellent.
The view is great with the windshield matching the size in accord.
The dashboard is flat an big. Can even keep a small suicase.
Brilliant use of space with 60:40 seat and cup holders, hooks etc.
*Cons
*Under thigh support is not enough as I am 6 2 tall.
3rd gear is little sluggish with AC ON.
Bit pricey. But quality always comes at a price.
Seat height is not adjustable.
Glove box is small.
Air bags are provided only on imported ones. So huge space for air bags is wasted underneath the dash board.
Overall, it is the best hatchback available in India. Would recommend to go for the top end model with ABS and alloys.
I would love to drive the 1.6, but 1.3 is more than enough in bangalore traffic.
