Been looking for a car for the past 4 months. Interests ranged from Invader to Scorpio to palio D to Getz.
Got a chance to test drive getz GL in Bangalore. Currently, driving a Santro ZipPlus and hence cant avoid comparing the 2.
Look wise, it wasn’t very impressive. Looked a little like Santro.. Looked cool from the rear though! ( some say it looks like the Golf). Once you get inside the car, the interiors are quite impressive. Neat finish. taken care of details.
I liked the bigger tyres compared to the Santro.
Once we took it for a drive, the pick was not so great. not any different from a 1.1 Santro. May be its becos of the kerb weight. (around 1095 kg’s)
Another thing about it was - once you are going in a certain speed (3rd and 4th gear) and you take your leg of the accelerator, there a jerk (literally). Looks like the engine is revving. I dont think this should happen.
But at higher speeds the vehicle is quite stable. No wobbly feeling. should be comfortable for long drives.
The front driver seat can be moved much more behind than a Santro( for the long-legged humans! )
Price. for the same price you can get a Palio Diesel. (if gas-price-mileage is important). Getz doesnt expect to give more than 10 kmpl in city. becos of increased weight, higher cc and bigger tyres compared to Santro.
At the end of the day I still dont know what car to buy ; (
