3 years ago, when I decided to buy a car, I had a couple of options in the 5 lakhs budget. People suggested me that you can buy a sedan with this price but I preferred a hach-back as driving in Delhi is a nightmare and with number of cars growing day by day, it was easier to maneuver a hatch back against sedans.
People tend to buy a big car for showing off but I am not that personality. However, I looked at various options like Esteem, Palio, Indica, swift, etc. Some had space crunch and some had after sales issue while some had terrible suspensions. My preference was a car with lots of space inside, good suspension and a bit stylish on looks.
So, I went ahead and narrowed my choice on Hyundai GETZ. I went to the dealers and most of them insisted me to Accent. But I saw Getz and I asked them why people don’t buy them. Dealers said because of the mileage and a little high price for a hatch back. Anyhow, I decided to go for it and finally bought it.
I had traveled 40, 000 kms in the first 2 years and as on date(3 years) 48, 000 kms, as I am a travel freak.
Cons: When the aircon is on, it becomes a little difficult to go beyond 120 km mark.
The tryes which came with the company was horrible, so I changed them with Bridgestone Turanza.
The headlight bulbs were not as sharp, changed them with Philips luminious.
Pros: Drive Quality: Amazing drivability especially the car wearing Turanza tyres even after 3 years. Be it suspensions, positioning of all seats, easy steering, etc, the car is spot on with performance.
The big flat dash board gives you a feel of driving a big car, giving you the confidence on highways especially.
The quality of interiors of the cars be it plastics, gear nobs, glove box, hand brakes, etc is high quality. They have not deteriorated even I park my car outside.
The weight of the car is heavy giving you confidence when you drive it. You can feel the sturdiness.
The car is big on space. Be it front or rear leg space.
Driving this car on the hills is very easy too as the aerodynamics of the car is just right.
Facts: It has never given me any problem so far. Has always started in one stroke.
I do regular service in about every 7, 000 -8, 000 kms.
I have driven this car max at 155 km/hr on highway with no shaking.(with aircon off)
The car doesn’t rattle even after 3 years.
The mileage on highways and long trips is 11-12 km/hr, with aircon on/off respectively.
