Hi there people, I bought this car last year on the 31st of December 2015! its a really really good looking car and has a lot of features which hardly any other car provides. Its a great family car and has many positives than negatives. Me and my father exchanged our old 15 year old maruti 800, which we kept for 15 years and which had been driven for only 30, 000 kms or probably less but it had to be maintained. We got a very good price indeed for the exchange along with some other benefits which came along as my father was a senior citizen and retired govt. employee. So, this was a big upgrade for us, moving from maruti and going to hyundai. The behaviour of the people in the showroom was amazing. Their behaviour and their ability to sell the car and not look at other cars from other companies, was truly remarkable. Th test drive was ok as my father is still driving the car! hahaha and is not letting me touch the car! till date.so iam looking to buy one car myself too probably in a years time or so.unless he allows me to drive this car! hahahahaha.
The ride: The car rides over bumps and potholes like a dream but at times some of the sharper bumps and holes get through but it doesnt make a "clunk" noise or doesnt make ur head touch the car ceiling! hahaha it absorbs these bumps really well but if it is a sharper bump you do "feel" it, to a certain extent.
The Handling: The handling of this car, at least what I have seen, through my father, is that it handles really well. The steering is electric power steering and its very light in the city and my father doesnt feel a thing while turning this car, he simply loves it! he says why didnt I think of buying this car few years back.i said he loved his maruti tooo much!.he and I both agree and few other people too that to operate this cars steering and gear and clutch is like moving the steering, gear shifts and clutch over "makkhan".as he says "ekdom makkhan jaisa." The gear shifts are really smooth and clutch is sooo much better than maruti. He took some time to get used to this kind of "luxury" after maruti 800. The breaks are brilliant as well, no issues there! So handling is superb.
The Mileage: Well we havent gone for the 2nd service .but as of now, we are getting 12 to 14 km per litre in the city and that to with AC on and off. The highway mileage is 22 kmpl. with ac on and off.if we go with ac off it gives around 23 kmpl. This mileage will increase for sure.probably by 1 or 2 kms more. It depends on youre driving style and how you go about it. Let me include the pickup in this passage as well, the pickup is very good. It just picks up soo fast.in no time youre car will be touching 100 kms and you wont even feel it or know it, you would feel as if you are travelling at 60 to 80 but the fact is the car is going at 100 kms. So we keep the car, while on highway, at a speed of 80 to 90 km per hour.
The Interior Space: The space inside is mind boggling! trust me, unless you sit inside this car, you cannot imagine the space it throws up for you. A average size adult or even three people on the heavier side of things.say 80 to 90 kgs as well.can sit comfortably at the back.i know its hard to believe but I know it to be true because of my mothers three friends who weigh exactly like the numbers I mentioned and they fit in perfectly. The leg space or room is amazing too. My mother has knee problem, she cannot bend it too much, so when we were in the maruti she and my father had problem getting in and out of the car, thats one reason I bought this car, now she doesnt have any problem getting in and out. This car is really really all age group friendly. The boot space is amazing! 256ltrs. swallows in a lot of luggage and it has made the journey easier and better.
The Engine: What can I say? its magnific!
Now comes the cons .
The View from Drivers point of view: If you are a person who is short or you know a friend or family member or sibling, who is having a height starting from 47 to 53 or 54, please buy the ASTA variant. DO NOT BUY A VARIANT LOWER THAN ASTA. Or if you are someone who is shifting from old maruti 800 or new 800, with the height specification I gave, please buy ASTA and no variants below that. The reason I say this is because with the new kind of front end, which suddenly drops and you basically feel like you are driving a maruti van, with no nose or you do not know how far the nose is going with the help of the bonnet as well, you will bang into something or get too close to cars or buses without even realising it! and also the car is quite large from the side. You might think its very small but it isnt, the breadth of the car is a lot. The reason I told you about the height is because if you have that height you will not be able to see the front of the car properly at all. As it doesnt have height adjust ONLY Asta has height adjust driver seat. I and even my father having 30 plus years of driving not only a maruti but other cars in his life, is facing problems of parking the car because the left side is completely blinding. The side of the road can only be seen once you are coming to park and thats it.after that its just based on your driving experience that you get an idea as to how far the front left wheel has gone, has it gone up the curb and on to the footpath can only be understood if the wheel hits something or if you hear the wheel covers being scratched. So, in order to avoid accidents or bumps while a hyundai car is coming to park, please stay away from it because the driver cannot see front left or right, so if you walk close to the car while the car is parking and you have kept a bike there or a bag near the footpath closer to the road or if you have a child or toddler and you see a hyundai grand i10 parking, please, please move away, there is a big chance you might be tapped a bit.
Very sorry for the biggest review!
