I have been a Hyundai fan since 2005 when I sold off my problematic Maruti 800 and bought a Santro and in turn traded it for a new i10 in 2009. Now a couple of months ago I traded this for a new Grand i10(petrol/manual/asta) because it featured all the improvements required on the i10.
Roomy and comfortable, it gave the feeling of being inside a big car while actually not occupying too much parking space. The sleek features such as push button start, smart key, radio and bluetooth controls on the steering wheel, electrically operated side view mirrors, reverse sensors, etc have transformed my experience into ecstasy. After logging about 450 km in the city I had the chance to drive up from Chennai to Bangalore and beyond and back, a distance of about 1000 km.
The drive was smooth as silk and never felt tired or fatigued. The A/C was excellent and when there was defogging required, the operation was superfast. The pick up is outstanding and the speed, control and balance are simply great.
Especially the pick up while changing from 4th to 3rd during overtaking, the car just zips forward. Although I generally do not exceed 100 kmph, I could touch 140 quite easily a few times and the vehicle was quite stable. I think it would have gone easily to 150 but I didn’t attempt any further. I had already got the answer. As for mileage, I got a figure of 18 kmpl on the highway with AC on mostly and at average speed of 90 kmph. I am still not sure about the mileage in the city, I am figuring out fresh, now that I have got the first service done. I have done just 1630 km. So keeping my fingers crossed.
