Reverse gear does not engage. Ok, try again...

After six services and repeatedly complaining about specific issue regarding reverse gear, dealer accepted that reverse gear issue exists in Santro, i10 and i20. Basically, when you try to put car in reverse gear, it does not engage occasionally, typically if you try it as a first thing in the morning. As per Hyundai, you need to put it in neutral and move it to first gear, put in neutral again and try to put it in reverse gear when you encounter such issue. See my photographs for communications from Hyundai.

Although they replaced everything as per guidelines provided by Hyundai, the problem persisted. And they finally provided an instruction on what do when I encounter such problems. It is basically, "try again".

And for god shake, don’t believe in what Mr Shahrukh Khan states about mileage. You will get 10 km/litre in City with AC on, 16 km/litre with AC on the highway. Maybe, you could be more luckier than me. Hope so!

And don’t get lured by what dealer says when you buy it. You might not get discount at the last minute, interest rate could go up on financing scheme and so on. Yes, be prepared to get cheated by their aggressive Sales team.

And if all that’s not enough, they will constantly seek feedback to please you, but they will do nothing about it.

And last but not least, they will share your phone numbers with all car insurance agents so that you will start getting calls from all insurance agents when your insurance is about to expire. I assume you don’t enjoy unsolicited calls!

Beware before you decide on buying your i10.
