I got the delivery of Hyundai i10 - Magna 1.1L on 14-08-08. I had to opt for 1.1L, since in Mumbai 1.2 Kappa engine vehicles were not cleared by RTO then, eventhough it was launched. There was a long waiting period for my color choice (Alpine Blue) too.
I have decided to go for i10 Magna after going through a lot of research, car reviews, test drive reports etc. Initially, I had taken a test drive of this vehicle too. Swift VXi was another vehicle which I have test driven. Frankly, speaking, I was very impressed with the performance of i10 when I did test drive.
It was just for a matter of my own satisfaction that I tried Swift, which infact was costlier by Rs. 1 L . I felt i10 more comfortable than Swift. Out of other small cars, I am not impressed with the looks of Wagon R and found Estilo and Chevrolet Spark more compact as compared to i10.
I am using this vehicle since 14-08-08 and so far ran about 500 kms. The drive is very comfortable and smooth. Control is awesome. Looks....well I have opted for Alpine Blue color which infact invites peoples’ attention ! The car has got decent pick-up and on 4th and 5th gear it runs more effortlessly. I have not come accross with any gear shifting problems what so ever as mentioned in most of i10 reviews.
The car is so silent that at times I have to press the accelerator to ensure that the engine is on! A/c is excellent. You will feel comfortable in minitues by turing the a/c knob to just 1. On mileage, well, it is too early to comment on this. But, yet, I calculated after the last fill and it game me 11, that too with a/c (off at times) in bumper to bumper traffic of Mumbai. I am looking for a better mileage after first/ second service.
Space inside is pretty good as compared to other small cars. Three medium size people have travelled in the back seat of my car comfortably. I found the parcel tray in front a bit low, so it becomes a bit uncomfortable for the front passenger with long legs to sit comfortably. Head light could have been a better one.
To sum it up, I am very happy with my i10 and really looking for a smooth ride ahead too. I would strongly recommend this vehicle for people who is seriosly looking for a small family car in a budget of 4 to 4.75 L.
