I had bought an i-10 Era (Grey color) in April, 2008. The options I had zeroed down were: Swift and i-10...As i-10 won the Car Of The Year award (COTY), I decided to go for it.
Also, took along a 2 yr additional warranty at the time of sale.The car was behaving so well after the first service that I didn’t bother to visit the service center after the first free service...
After approx 1.5 years the Power steering failure occurred and Hyundai Service Center replaced the faulty unit for free (thanks to Extended warranty taken). Our driving has been very limited due to space constraints in car and low fuel efficiency (8.5 Kmpl city and 13.5 Kmpl highways)...
I had not been servicing the car after 1st service due to above and after 3 years, I decided to get it serviced (ODO reading 15, 000 KMS) which costed me Rs. 6, 500 (which I feel was reasonable)...
The battery started giving problems after 3.5 years of usage (may be due to installation of heavy sound system: 4 channel amplifier, 12 inch subwoofer, 2 oval speakers, 2 component speakers and 2 tweeters) had an option of either getting the battery serviced or buying a new one.
I have now replaced the battery after 3.5 years which costed me Rs. 4, 100. The car is now behaving well. Also, the fuel efficiency has now become marginally better (9 KMPL in City). However still far behind competition which is offering cars with 10+ fuel efficiency.
Forget the diesel models (which are offering 20+). My overall satisfaction levels on the car is 3.5/5 considering the amount paid while purchasing, servicing, overall troubleshooting, parts failures etc. I had got my car evaluated for resale and price being offered is 2.75 lacs (not bad).
However, I am planning to use this car more for about 1-2 years and then will be selling it off! I don’t think the evaluation will go down below 2 lacs then. (Readers comments are most welcome).
