This is my first review at mouthshut and it has been really good to have this web site which will let you know the pro and the con of a product before you buy it.
I wanted to buy a car for a long time as we had a M800 for about 12 years and she is getting old now. I was on a hunt for another family car (A family of 5 ppl). After using M800 for 12 years I did not want to buy a Maruti, I guess as we where been using this for so long. Somehow I was biased to Hyundai, some time back I had decided that I would buy an i10 but due to slowdown I postponed my purchase. Finally I had the budget to buy a 6+ lakh car so decided to go for i20 Asta.
I will be booking mine in a day or two. I had a test drive of i20 Asta and am going to keep my review towards this car
This is a gem of a car, i10 was good but i20 is better. I drew this car for about 10 Km today and fell in love with it. The engine: This is the same heart which is in the i10 and is a wonder in itself. I20 is a big car so I felt that it was under powered in the 2nd gear (many have told about this) especially when you go over the hump in 2nd gear you can feel the underpowerness. But other than this the engine is really good, no sound at all. I have never seen a car produce this less sound even in rpm of 3000 to 4000. The gear shift is soo easy that you can change the gear with a finger (and I really tried that).
The Looks: Uber cool – and it lives to it name. They is a saying that “beauty lies in the eye of the beholder”, but this beauty lies in every beholder. I was impressed with the curves they have on the car it is so smooth, just so pleasing. I just fell in love with the look of the car when it was launched.
Interiors: This car has one of the best interiors I have seen. The dual tone beige interiors with all that fancy display look just amazing. The display is very informative and give you almost all the details you would want in a car monitoring system.
Additional features: This is one of the things which we do not see in a hatchback car in India. I20 has been loaded with features. Asta model has got ABS with EPS, front airbags, driver seat adjustment, tilt steering, integrated audio with USB and AUX input with 4 speakers and 2 tweeters.
The drive: I want to test how comfortable the car is when I driven on a bumpy road so just near my office I have an un-tarred road with lots of pot holes ( very easy to find such road in Bangalore). The suspension was really good, though we cannot compare M800 with i20 I used to get shocks in to my spine when I go over that road but with i20 the drive was very easy. The power steering is also very light and very easy to maneuver in heavy traffic.
Over all I think that this is a great car, if you have a budget of 6+ lakhs
