NEW ELANTRA BREAKDOWN IN 15 days- Faulty Model

I wish to inform you that delivery of said car was taken from your showroom on 21st July 2013. On 6th aug at 4 pm while it was raining, said was approaching residence at 192, Narmada Apartment Alaknanda. Barely 100 meters from residence on the main road right in front of Don Bosco school gate , said car crossed stagnating rain water level of approximately 6."


As the car passed the stagnated water it stopped soon after and never started again. We called helpline and car was picked up for repair at 7 pm and parked with Koncept Hyundai, workshop Okhla phase II. Morning, I personally visited workshop at 10.30am  to understand the problem. Staff at workshop checked engine and reported water in engine oil and engine cease.


I was shocked to learn this. Staff advised to lodge insurance claim which I filed in absence of any other advice available. Claim no is MOTO 3253273 with ICICI Lombard. Insurance Survey  is yet to be done. We have following concern to register and seek your advise to move further in the matter:


1) Workshop staff informed that problem of water entering in engine is perennial & common in Hyundai  cars


2) Information provided about the problem in car, by staff at workshop, was not convincing


3) Workshop informed that it will take more than 10 days to repair after insurance estimates are approved


4) It took  > 2.5 hrs to complete formalities to complete insurance claim documents. Surveyor from ICICI Lombard was present to attend to other vehicle but refused to survey said car as claim is not formally registered. Formal registration was informed through SMS at 3.15pm on 7th aug.


5) Staff at workshop despite repeated enquiry refused to provide any estimated expense and kept saying that we need to find what all repairs are required. Their response has been extremely unsatisfactory and unconvincing.


It has been only 16 days since we took delivery and such a breakdown for no convincing reason has left a depressed feeling. 4-5 colleague of mine are in process of deciding to buy Elantra after my experience in last 2 weeks but it has suddenly created doubts with all of us.


In absence of any robust explanation of what happened to car , I completely loosing confidence in the decision made. Therefore, request you to kindly depute officials concerned to support us as your valued customer and restore our confidence.
