I simply bought the Santro becoz I didn’t have another choice. One thing I hated in this car is the looks (which most of you would agree) and they have made my plight worse by changing the looks of the car. What would you call a car that changes it looks every two years! (The last change was in June 2001 when they changed the lights etc., and oops I shouldn’t forget the upgrade to a 1.1 litre engine quickly afterwards..)
Hence with a Santro you can be sure that in future newer looking models will come & you are always left with an outdated looking car. Human Psyche wants that what they possess must not only be unique but also be possessed by some more people.
Truly, the Santro may be the best car available in
India of its class when you see the performance. But have you considered the cost of spares and labour?
A fog lamp made by Santro costs Rs.3800 plus taxes. It is available from Rs.800 in the market. You get a good one for Rs.1000. The only thing which you may not get from the outside market is the support. But how many times more do you pay for this?
I bought a fog lamp for Rs. 1000 in the market. I did the mistake of getting it company fitted. They charged me Rs. 550 for only the fitting and Rs. 460 for the switch (yes only the switch). Any other place in Bangalore, they charge Rs. 50 for the switch and Rs. 50 for the fitting.
I think Hyundai charges too much for spares and labour. Considering this I think Maruti is the good. They don’t change the models like these people do and don’t charge you hell. Look at the commitment that Indica has on people.They had some problems with the initial version of cars.When a new version was introduced they upgraded the older cars free of cost. This gives a sense of pride which no body else can match and HYUNDAI???????
