I have purchased Santro LP in May’03. I am driving it in Mumbai. I am getting very poor fuel efficiency i.e. 8-8.5 km/litre. I was shocked to see it first and when I contacted company they confirmed that in the city and on busy road I would get something around 8-9 only. I would get 11-12 on highway. I am happy with the performance otherwise but very much disappointed about the poor mileage.
I like power steering and the 5 gear system. It makes driving much easier. I would recommend it to anyone who is tall and is looking for lot of leg room for the front seats. I purchased it because of my height. I was promised bottle test to check out the mileage but the bottle test was not carried out as the workshop was overloaded with work and could not spare time for the same. I was advised to improve my driving method which would result in to more mileage and also was told that nothing can be done in these latest technology cars which would improve poor mileage problem.
