I have purchased a Santro Xing XL (eRLX) at Nasik in April 2007.
The new Santro Xing eRLX engine is a vast improvement over its earlier epsilon engine (1998). The engine is very smooth and quiet, starts easily and never seizes. The pickup is very fast and the power and torque are adequate for most city driving conditions (stop suddenly and fast pickup).
I found that compared to the earlier Santro (1998) which I owned, the eRLX models suspension is much better resulting in smooth drive over rough roads and less jerky for rear seat passengers. The power steering is a breeze to handle and is very soft and responsive while turning. The turning radius of 4.4 metres is very good for city driving and parking.
The headlight is better focussed and the beam can be adjusted. The door trims are better. On the flipside, the sheet metal of the body is thinner than before and I faced some problem with its wiper motor within a month of purchasing. Also the rear view mirror vibrates while driving on rough roads (which most roads in India are) - a subtle 0 km complaint which needs attention of Hyundai service. Overall, the Hyundai service is very good.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the Santro Xing eRLX model and after comparing it with 3-4 competitive car models, I chose to buy this car even though I had a Santro before and I sold it to buy another Santro as I feel it gives the best value for money in the compact car segment.
