First of all I would like to say thanks for all the mouthshut viewers for an amazing feed back for my review on honda unicorn. Now im back to give you a review on the sunshine car THE SANTRO
XING
most of you might be wondering why is a review being written now on a car which was launched way back in 2003.well the answer for this is that it took me two long years to look into the pros and cons of this vehicle.
Anyways lets get straight to the highlights of this car
Firstly,
THE DESIGN:Most of us must be familiar with the ever so common santros design, After a major face lift at the end of 2003 the car has gained a lot of popularity among the compact cars for its tallboy design and cute looks
the interiors are pretty basic with an average plastic quality.the controls are well within reach and good to operate.personally I feel that hyundai could have provided rotary controls for the air con instead of the dated looking sliding switches, nevertheless they are quite functional.
ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE:The engine basically is a 1.1litre mpfi(multi point fuel injection)unit which pumps out a decent 63bhp with around 9kgm of torque.well statistics dont indicate this little beautys performance on road.Even though one might just feel it is not as peppy as the zen its good mid range power makes it extremely driveable in the city and not too bad on the highway and that means it manage a 100-120 km/h quite comfortably.but because the seating isnt designed for the highways long journeys can take a bit of toll on the driver.
RIDE AND HANDLING:its got a good ride quality but its quite bumpy at the rear especially when the car is not fully seated.handling is superb even at speeds of 100km/h and the hydraulic power steering makes driving easier.
VERDICT:its simple, if your looking for a compact car go for the santro xing.it is more spacious than an alto or a zen and has got much better driveability than the wagon R.
