Well well, so much is being talked about Santro. Indeed the most selling car. I do not own a santro but I have driven this car for quit a few hundred miles. And my experience was good as far as the city driving was concerned.
This is NOT A HIGHWAY CAR and not recommended for speeds above 80kmpl. SANTRO owners please restrict speeding on the highways to 100kms max.
It has good fuel efficiency, good pick up and a hydraulic power steering, a PRO and a CON. A PRO because it eases out on city driving, the CON is it can be a potential nightmare for rookie drivers on a speedy Highway. The steering gets even more lighter at high speeds and a small error can drag one out of the lane resulting in serious consequences. An electronic power steering is better which a Santro lacks.
The stability at high speeds is also a little questionable. This car does not stabilize quicky at high speeds especially when it hits small bumps, or lets say small uneven patches on the highway. The shocks are good for low speeds but as I said earlier a level difference at high speed can scare the out of you.
The tall body design puts the CG (centre of gravity) a little above the ground which again reduces the stability of the car to a great extent.
Zen scores on this front and has the lowest CG in the segment giving rock hard stability on turns at high speeds.
The boot space is not as huge as it is talked about. Just as any other small car may have, except palio or getz.
I dont see people talking about the looks of the car because the car has no such thing in it. At times I cant make out if it was a Santro, Zip plus/Xing whatever, or a Autorickshaw that passed by.
Yes the looks of the santro are not any more interesting than that of a AutoRickshaw.
Its a car for you only if you dont care high speeds stability and Looks.
