I recently bought a Santro Xing XP and mind u, this is my first car. I had a tough time in deciding between Wagon R and Santro Xing. A world known fact is that Wagon R is technically superior car than Santro Xing and the recent edition looks more smarter than the older one.
However, its boxy look, spoils the whole show. Especially the rear look of the car is not all that appealing. Heres where the Santro Xing outsmarts the look of the Wagon R.
However, this car does not feature a digital odometer and a tachometer which the Wagon R has. Personally speaking, I did not require this feature. Moreover, the new Wagon R costs more than the Santro Xing. In India, any buyer would blindly go for Maruti considering its successive service.
I would say that Hyundai is very much in par with the quality of service and does an excellent job ! Santro has a decent pick up but Hyundai can still increase the pickup and the mileage, especially when the a/c is being used. Coming to the leg room, head room and the boot space, Santro has no competitor.
The Wagon R has a larger head room than Santro but an average Indian is not as tall to use so much of that head room space given by Wagon R. I have no complaints about the car and is definitely a better car than the M800 and Alto. Santro Xing gives a very quite drive and at times when the a/c is switched off, it is amazing to note that the engine noise is hardly heard. Its close competitor Matiz is no more in the market and has managed to reached the top in its class.
I recommend this car for first time buyers. Wagon R and Santro has a very thin line of difference in performance, looks, mileage and maintenance. Hence, gives the customer a hard time in deciding which one to go for !
