When I thought of buying a car (YES my first car) my obvious choice was Maruti. Since I am new to driving, I thought of going for a second hand M800 for few days and then go for a new car. But later I realized a new car was always better so decided to go for Zen. I went to the Maruti Dealer (Mandovi Motors, Bangalore) to have a look of new ZEN but it did not suit my height. Also there was a bit confusion regarding the advertisement they gave in TOI dated 27th Dec 2003. According the advertisement, they were offering free insurance and Rs 10, 000/- worth of accessories free with ZEN but when I went there, they said there is no such offer and the advertisement was a mistake (hahahahahaa). Anyway the car was not at all suitable for me and I went to Hyundai Dealer (Advaith Motors, Bangalore) to enquire about Xing. When I saw the car, I almost wanted it immediately. I booked the car very next day and got the delivery on 2nd Jan 2004. Its an excellent car with lots of head and leg space. Interiors are like a luxury car and the performance is amazing. The AC is very effective but driving in 5th gear was not a good experience with AC on. Without AC the performance in 5th gear was great. And yes, I do agree with other reviews that sometimes you can feel the engine vibrations while shifting the gears or if you always keep your hand on the gear shaft. But I would say that these are very minor problems and one should definitely go for this car if having a budget of 4 lacs.
