I am coming back after riding my sweet santro for almost one year. I have driven around 15k in less than one year and still I have not found any single issues with the car. Odo has crossed 1 lakh kms :-) and still going strong as ever, I hope it remains the same forever.
I have stressed my car a lot, by riding in rough conditions, driving at high speed (140kms) on mumbai-pune expressway couple of times.
I am extremely satisfied by its reliability.
Pros are
1) Extremely reliable
2) Silent engine
3) Good space for 4 ppl and just manageable for 5 ppl.
4) Very good pickup
5) Quite stable at high speeds (around 140kms)
Cons
1) AC is not chilling in 1st or 2nd gear. It takes some time to chill the cabin. In the night, cooling is satisfactory.
2) Rear suspension is bumpy and I can hear the thud sounds quite loudly when my car goes from bumps.
3) Mileage is a bit issue in city conditions. It gives me around 13--14 kms with 50%ac on.
Does anybody have any tips on the Cons listed above. it would be very helpful.

The below review was posted one year back
Hi Guys,
I have recently bought a Used Santro Xing XP Model ( December 2004 model, from Modi Hyundai, Thane).
clocked around 85000kms, Purchased at 1.9 lakhs. (Sky blue colour, body colour bumpers, mirror, company fitted pioneer music system)
Since this is my first car, I was sure to buy a second hand vehicle only since I had my budget constraint too.
my budget was 3 lakhs, so instead of buying a new vehicle, paying emis and stuff and having no money for petrol ;) .. why not but a good second hand vehicle and enjoy the leftover money on petrol and long trips. This was my way of thinking and some where I think I have made the right decision.
I had gone to chevrolet, maruti and couple opf private showrooms as well. but none of them excited me. I had almost finalised on 2002 Wagon (1.9 lakhs, true value maruti from vitesse) but the shape, and lack of space , low pickup in wagon r put me on hold.
I then searched on internet to find out about hyundai used cars and my search ended at Modi hyundai. I had seen reviews about pros and cons of santro so I knew what to buy.
Finally I booked my Santro Xing on 16th may. and boy !! what a car.
Looks : It is really cute in shape and headlights are really attractive. which really attracts the crowd when I am driving.
Space : I agree its not as comfortable as Tata vehicles, but its much better than maruti , chevy vehicles in terms of space and what more you can expect from hatchback from 2005 stable.
Performance : This gives true adrenaline in my body when I zip away in traffic. considering 86000kms already clocked before, engine is ultra smooth, no drag in pickup, and my xing can take all the load with ease. its true performer in city traffic like mumbai where you really want to zip away from traffic.
We had done a couple of long trips around mumbai (with 5 people, full ac on) and my xing has never let me down. stability is awesome on highways and 120km can be reached with ease. I think amond the entry level hatchback, this is the best vehicle in terms of performance, stability and engine power. I have done about 5000km till date and found no issues at all.
Mileage : This is cons which I find in this vehicle, mileage is around 13 in city and 15-16 in highways (mixed, 50% ac on) but I have no complains as such considering the age of the vehicle
Suspension : this is the major con of this vehicle. I have seen many reviews about bad suspension in santro . yes. and its true.. front suspension are good, but people sitting in the back are bit uncomfortable when vehicle goes across potholes, bad roads etc. but I have done some research on it and if you keep the tyre pressure just less than normal , I keep 29psi instead of 30 psi. it gets little bit better ( if anyone has any other idea, please share it )
I have also got one year warranty from modi hyundai which includes two free services.
Overall I am extremly satisfied with this vehicle considering the space, awesome relaibiltiy, stability on highways, performance etc.
I would recommend to anyone who is looking for entry level hatchback.
And the new ERLX technology for Santro has really done wonders of the car.
