Editing the Review after 6 months of Purchase.
Hi Guys,
My Santro Xing has completed 6 months and just last week I had the second service done. So, I thought that it would be a good idea to relook at my car.
Well, to begin with I still stand by my opinion of this car. Its a breeze and my second love (next to my beautiful wife). I just simply love driving everywhere in my New Santro Xing. Its clocked almost 6500 Kms in the 6 months.
Let me begin with a few minor issues that I have had with the car. Firstly, one can feel the engine of the car through the gears sometimes and this can be quite annoying if you have a habit of keeping your hand on the gearshift. Secondly, the Levers (Accelerator, Clutch & Brake) are slightly small in dimension and hence the foot needs to be placed correctly. Lastly, the Air Conditioner is slightly slow in cooling the rear compartment, and this is highlighted more in my car, as it is Black in color.
Now, let me come to the niceties about the car. First of all, the cabin space is simply too good for a car of its size. I have made several trips to places around Pune like Shirdi, Mumbai, Bhimashakar, etc and generally we were 5 of us. The Ride quality is simply too good with minor glitches at the back while taking potholes on the Lonavala expressway. Driving the car on the Lonavala Ghat sections was a breeze as the car takes hard banking with ease. There were times on the straighter stretches when I was driving at around 120-130 Kms/Hr, but the car felt absolutely steady and I could feel that the car had a little more torque to offer. That says something about the Cars highway feel.
Now, for some details regarding the Santro under City Conditions. First and Foremost, Santro Xing is one of the most easily maneuverable cars in traffic. I have driven several other Small Cars but this Car is amazing. The Power Steering combined with a responsive engine, gives complete and easy control of the car in city conditions. Parking is a delight with this car, and I have seldom had any issues in parking the car within tight spots.
Finally, lets come to a very important aspect - Mileage. If you refer to my earlier review I had mentioned that the mileage is slightly on the lesser side. One of our friends here at MS had suggested an Additive - System-G, and I must say that the results are worth mentioning. Now, I get consistently a mileage of 14 in City and 16 on the highways, which is almost a couple of kms more, compared to what I used to get without the additive.
One last thing I would like to mention here about the Dealer. I must say that I have been given truly commendable After Sales Service by Kothari Motors, Pune. Soon after my purchase, one of the engineers called me and took an appointment. He came home and we went for a drive where he explained to me the finer aspects of the Hyundai Epsilon MPFI Engine. I was trully impressed wit hthe kind of attention and detailing that I was offered. Before every service I get a reminder call as well as a Post Card. Few days after every service I get a call from the Service Station asking about the service results, etc. None of my queries have gone unanswered and the engineers are all the more eager to help me out. So, Keep up the good work, Hyundai.
So, guys, I am madly in Love with my Santro Xing, and look forward to see more of you guys falling for this beauty.
Cheers
Earlier Review right after purchase
It has been about 4 months since I purchased my Santro Xing XP in Pune. And I must say that I am not at all repenting my decision.
Santro Xing is a wonderful car and Hyundai has really worked hard in give the Santro a new face; a face that is quite appealing and fresh.
I did quite a bit of research before going in for the Santro Xing. The options I had were Alto, Zen and Wagon R, and my budget was just around the 3.5-3.7 Lakhs mark. Alto Vxi was ruled out as it was way beyond my budget, and the same applied to the Zen, though both these were good cars. The few attributes that were critical for me was Performance, Handling and Cabin space.
I must say that all these aspects were well adressed by the Santro Xing, and cabin space is comparable between Santro Xing and Wagon R. But, I do not like the looks of Wagon R, and hance I decided to go for the Santro Xing.
I am quite pleased with the performance of the 1081 CC MPFI Engine, and it gives a very silent ride. And the car is quite spacious, which we experienced on our journey from Pune to Shirdi, a distance of around 200+ Kms. We were 5 of us and the entire journey was quite comfortable for everyone. Ample legroom both at the front as well as the rear. In this car, Hyundai has given attention to even minor details like provision for rear speakers without compromising on Boot space, etc.
THe only thing that is bit sad about this wonderful piece of machine is its mileage. My car has been giving me around 12 Kmpl in city conditions, and around 14 Kmpl on highways. These figures are quite less when compared with any of the cars from the Maruti stable.
But, overall, owing the New Santro Xing is a very pleasurable experience, and I find it a value for money car.
