I have owned a Santro -Xing XS for close to 30 months. Most of the time, its just me and my wife driving around in this car.
I have put close to 40k KMS on this car.
Close to 18 trips on Blore-Chennai highway. Have driven it to Waynard, BR Hills, Yercaud, Ooty, Coonoor.
What I like about this car
--
This car works perfect for me since I live in Blore. I commute to work by this. Its fuel efficient.
It has a low turning radius, so the power steering works like magic in crowded streets.
I do lot of weekend travelling; generally about 100-400 kms, with 2 to 4 ppl. With 2 ppl, I do the Blore chennai drive in about 4 hrs for 320 kms (Leave Blore at 11pm and reach Chennai by 3am in the morning). And the drive is pretty good when the road is in excellent condition. So in many ways its a very good city car and short distance car.
Trident Hyundai customer service is pretty good. They have a good network.
XS comes with power windows and rear window wiper and it has been very useful.
The Tall boy model works well for ppl who are above 170 cms in height. And its a high clearance vehicle compared to Alto or Zen
Limitations
- With 4 ppl, while driving on a National highway, should not try exceeding 100-110kms/hr. The vehicle will not be stable beyond this speed. But there are not too many times I drive with 4 ppl.
2.Interiors has lot of plasticy feeling.
Power window for rear seats are not located in a reachable spot. So ppl will have to reach out for that.
Side mirrors need to be manually adjusted. Since its a "fully automatic car" I thought the mirrors can be "power adjusted", but thats not the case.
The accerelator pedal is little small in size. So it takes a lit bit of adjustment for the first few days.
Overall an excellent vehicle to drive around in a city like Bangalore or Chennai and pretty economical for short distance like 100-400 kms.
