Well, writing a review after a long time, feels good to be back.
Hyundais verna has gone through alot of changes, honestly I used to hate vernas it looks seemed unappealing and bland I never thought I would buy a verna but then fluidic verna grasped my heart and eyes I fell in love with her at first sight and decided this is the car I want owing to its features and specifications. My choice was between the vento, city and verna. vento was chucked out as its after sales is questionable and spares are on the higher side, the city is a really fun car but it looks werent appealing to me I wish the older city zx was around would have taken her instead. honda got chucked due to lesser features.
So I was zeroing in on the verna when I read a bunch of reviews speaking of it being a bad handler at high speeds and its dead like no feed back steering instantaneously crushed my heart, but somewhere inside me I did not want to go with others opinions, so I went ahead for a test drive and at once got my love back for her the car was extremely smooth and the steering was the best very light a high speed drive at 110 kmph made me erase those reviews from my head even though they can be true 110 max speed is more than enough for me to be safe.
I booked the car and later had issues with my dealer big story though sorted out in the end and got her home within a month, Shes a sure head turner at every signal or parking.
Its been 5 months now since I have here and 10 times have been to the service centre for suspension related issues and fuel economy issues, I changed the oil at 5000km to mobile synthetic and the original oil was thick and black, that sorted out my fuel economy woes, but the suspension issues are still present. The engine is a sweet thing, if your gentle it gives you good averages, if not its gives low. pick up is good fair enough but post 4500 rpms its very addictive and the engine grunt is something pleasant with a hint of sportiness. Gears are smooth and clutch is light, helps you in city traffic. But Im not at all impressed with hyundais after sales there are issues like suspension noise which is present on the i20 a few I know have the steering rattle issue. The bumper is pretty fragile low speed impacts can crack/break the bumper as well as fog light assembly. Overall, I say the cars great, just needs to improve on quality and suspension front.averages I get post oil change is 11.5km/l city 13.7km/l open roads and 15.3km/l expressways @100km/hhave clocked around 7200km till now my monthly usage is 1500-1900km.i do not have a liking for diesels, I feel more comfortable on petrol engines and enjoy their linear power delivery and free revving ability can sacrifice petrol costs for that.
The ride is comfortable noise is filtered out from the cabin, the rear gets a bit bouncy at high speeds over unleveled roads, sometimes the bounce is pretty violent.the cabin is comfortable and offers bough leg room, although I would say its more of a 4 passenger car then a 5, since the centre arm rest is kind of hard makes the centre passenger feel uncomfortable.maintenance wise parts are priced fine but some are expensive.if anyone from hyundai is reading this, id love to ask you guys to try and modify the suspensions to maintain a balance between comfort and handling. The car wont roll over at high speeds but when it gets a bit bouncy you do not feel like using the engine s full potential, and maybe offer optional accessories like projector head light, Im sure a lot of customtakeouters would be wanting it.
