I recently purchased the Verna SX CRDI, this is an awesome car, let me give and detail process how I decided upon this car
Initial Survey: I travel daily around 50 kms , the option I had was an diesel car which would provide value for money. The only 2 options I had were the FIESTA and the VERNA.
FIESTA: The engined is so refined you will not believe that it is an diesel car, but car is cramped you fell you are sitting in a small car not an midsegment car. The interiors are dull the silver finish on the air vents looks lousy. The biggest disadvantage is that the after sales service were the money is minted. I raised this question to the service guy at the FORD he didnt provide me the answer for the question raised
He told me that they have an maintenance plan which would take care of all your worries the cost would be 8000/- for 1 year. which clearly states they do not have confidence on their product
A diesel car would cost 2500/- (oils, filters, general service) for service of every 7500 kms, and in an year even if you do it 3 times the cost is 7500/-. But the service engineer says pay 8000/- plus tax
I was not convineced, he was also telling me that it would also cover the engine if it goes wrong, how would an new car 1 year old have engine problems????
VERNA: The first look didnt impress me but as I kept on looking at the car I started liking it. The car is very spacious you get an airy feeling and the interiors are really good, you can compare to an corolla. The wood finish (SX) is really good, the automatic climate control(the only car in its segment to have it) really works good, the A/c is superb in very hot conditions, the cabin gets cooled very fast.
the quality of the plastic is great and the 2 tone colour is amazing, but it is little difficult to maintain the beige with children around.
The engine is smooth not as good as fiesta but not bad, the build is really great once your close the door you hear the thud sound and feel your are safe in the vehicle.The service engineer didnt tell me anything about any maintenance plan , but they have an extended warrant which covers upto 3 years( if you are interested). this clearly shows the confidence the Hyundai people have in the product
To the final part: With 5 people in the fiesta the engine lacks power, but the verna is really a beast you touch the 2000 rpm then the car moves like an rocket and on the highways it is really lovable. even the city drive is good if you have driven the Ikon diesel and compare
