Tune into iTunes!

When it comes to the comp, the order of installation, as a rule goes like this. The Operating system, the Drivers required, the Anti-Virus Software and then, the audio player!.. Yes mates audio players have always been a generic point of contention in the field of entertainment software. Winamp, Musicmatch Juke Box, and a lot of others have been very famous in the field, but now ladies and gentlemen, introducing iTunes.

Brought to you by Apple, it is the revolutionary new software for music playback. Originally designed for the iPod, and now released for the PC platform (Sorry Folks but currently it supports only Windows Xp in the windows family of Operating Systems).

Now don’t confuse this with iMesh, this is iTunes. The installation is very easy and fast, but the only thing to keep in mind is, at one point the installation will prompt you to choose between going to the iTunes Shop or your own media library and here you have to choose the second. The interface is clean and smart. But since it is a new entry, I guess you might not find skins or themes for it easily.

The options are real good, here is small list:

1) All the id3 tags, i.e. the data about the track, like track name, artist, album etc come in a row, followed by a play count column, (now you now which is the song you have played most!).

2) The party shuffle option, is something like a autoDJ, and you can select the parameters for the shuffle. (Whats new about this I have seen this in Music Match you might say, but the new feature here is you can customise your autoDJ to play tracks on a set of parametres so wide, it makes the whole thing childs play).

3) The best part in the whole thing is the search bar. If you have your audio media organised with the proper tags, then you can look up for a song by typing either the song’s title or the artists name or the album or the genre! Phew!

My advice: download it, its free to be downloaded at http://www.apple.com/itunes/, install it and see for your self. It might take a few minutes to adjust to the controls, but after that its a great player!
