IBM Celeron R40e

I bought this in December, no problems like crashing, hangups, etc, ofcourse you do not expect anything like that with IBM stuff is it not? But apart from that this laptop irritates me to the core in lot of aspects, which I have pointed out below:

  1. Batteries: A big sore point, it has never lasted more than an hour and half of use in super economy mode itself. The worst part is I cannot find out another spare or extra time or more celled battery online (the local retailer says he does not stock any accessories and also he has not sold any R40e and is not sure what battery is suitable for this).

  2. Ports: It does not have a com port, just 2 USB ports, and the IBM port replicator does not work with this (it is mentioned so in their site) and third part USB to COM port convertor does not work (alas) the customer service says it is a third party solution and they are not sure what to do.

  3. I connect using Reliance internet and every time I have to preplan and open the programs like explorer, outlook express etc before I connect because if I connect and try to open them I will have to wait for anywhere between 2 minutes to eternity. Again, the local retailer does not know what to do and he wants to send the laptop to Banglore (400 kms from where I live) to IBM main office at my risk (!!!).

So, if you want to buy make sure you have a local retailer who is good with service also.
