Does players like Sachin, Sourav or Rahul need coaching when they themselves are in such a position that each can coach minnows like Bangladesh? Yes. But, why? Because, the situation in which they are in.
To be precise, if coach Duncan Fletcher were to be a part of his home team as a player in the contemporary situations, then he must play under the guidance of another coach.
To sum up, the only reason here is - as a player one has to play according to internationally(here ICC) accepted guidelines, irrespective of his stature.
However, none of the players(including Sehwag) could be blamed for Indias WC debacle. We have to understand that every player is like any humanbeing with his share of emotions. They are not demigods by themselves unless we make them.
Under crunch situations like these, we have to standby our players and offer moral support to them. Instead of burning effigies, why dont we provide suggestions and feedbacks through proper channels like print and electronic media? Why do we Indians display an uncharacteristic display of character and thusby throwing cricketers families too into disarray?
Also, how can a players ad campaigns affect his performance on the field? After all, he doesnt model for days and months together. It is just a day or two that takes to make an ad.
I dont deny some mistakes like Sehwag still getting selected for WC team leaving behind talented players like Ramesh Powar and Venugopal Rao. Their careers end up just looking for a place in the Indian side. How bad!
I hope Indian selectors leave behind politics and regional bias and give importance to talent and talent alone, not to the sheer image of a player.
By expressing all this, I am not backing up anyone.Henceforth, my humble request to all Indian cricket fans to either be supportive or be quiet. But, please do not indulge in any untoward incidents which may eventually affect our nations pride.Thank you all,
Take care,
Ravi.
