Well my experience of Icfaian Business School is not that great. First the school lacks major identity crisis; over the last 10 years it has at least tried more then couple of occasions to change its name. The institute is not a AICTE affiliated school (not that it matters) but the parent organization has recently been accredited with the deemed university status (ICFAI University) therefore it can practically offer degree program instead of diploma which at times becomes crucial for higher studies abroad (16 years criteria). The school started with a great ideology and in spite being a younger entity it had a better brand then compared to many of its contemporaries thanks to the credibility of its founders and its affiliation with the AIMR CFA program. The biggest mistake the institute did was detaching itself from AIMR and by launching its own PGDFA program (CFA equivalent) but it continued to use the CFA charter which was a violation of trademark which later lead to litigations.
The greed for money led the institute to set up multiple centres with poor infrastructure in more then 6 cities across the country. They thought that it may level them with the IIMs.....what a joke. Most of these centre lacked basic infrastructure like computer centre, good classrooms, library, etc. Moreover, it started to recruit faculties that had little or no educational experience instead of absorbing reputed visiting faculties from other institutions and industry. Whatever good faculties that remained slowly left the organization for various reasons (political of course). The admission process is a hog wash and anyone with even a brain size of a nut can get into this school. Students hardly learn anything in this school and whatever they achieve are through their own efforts. The students are hardly groomed to face the business world and therefore hardly manage decent placements. Although the institute claims 100% placement but average salaries are even less then Rs 2 lacs per annum, which one can get from call centers these days. The institute has become a money minting machine as it introduces courses from cooking management to labor management and what not. Have you ever seem IIM advertising, but I promise you ICFAI is one of the highest spender on advertisements may be one day it will cross HLL. Guys who want to study there, I wish you all the best..........
I am actually scared that if my identity is revealed they may send goons at my place.
