This is one bank that has grown by aggressive selling and not by good customer service.
i live in bangalore. I have accounts in an mnc bank and also in a public sector bank. I opened an account with icici as they have atm’s all over bangalore, within a few minutes drive from anywhere. now I use three products from this bank and the customer service stinks in each area. honestly I feel that the service in my public sector bank was better. I am waiting for the atm density of other banks to grow, and as soon as that happens I want to go someplace else for my banking needs.
in case you are contemplating using a new bank, consider this: even if icici comes out with the lowest rate of loan interest or the lowest processing fee, it is a matter of a few days before other large banks match it, given the competitive situation. therefore, your decision should be based on other criteria like quality of customer service, how long it takes for the bank to revert or resolve issues, etc. I have found multinational banks to have the best quality of customer service, but they dont have the volumes that icici bank has, and therefore may not have as many atms or branches in the city. its a compromise; choose wisely :-)
