Lost pwd. Lost 3 months.

I have been ICICI bank’s customer for more than 3 years. Their comprehensive service offerings like money2india, icicidirect, online banking, third party transfer etc., for NRIs is great.


But what sucks is the basic password management. I have lived without access to ICICI bank when I just came to US for more than 3 months. Now again, few months back they have reset my password without my knowledge. The reason was not known to me. When I asked, they informed that that if I don’t logon to ICICI bank’s online account at least once in a month, they will reset the password. It’s absurd; I would compare it to being asked to visit the ICICI bank branch at least once in a month to keep the bank account active.


Then I have requested to issue a new password. They had send it to my old address(it’s my mistake that I haven’t updated my account address. But then it’s not simple like I logon to my account and issue an address change request. I have to send a signed letter to a P.O Box address. Opph, Being a consultant, I keep changing my address every six months or so.) After that I send a signed letter in mail/post to a P.O box address in US and this time they updated the address. Alas! This entire process took 1 month.


Now the real fun starts, they have sent a new password to my current address stating that it will reach in 7 business days. They have mentioned IT International Courier and Airway Bill Number. There is no website for that IT International courier where I can track the courier. I don’t know if anyone knows the use of sending such airway bill no that’s of no use to customer. And ofcourse, they didn’t ask for me as a reference later during my phone converstation. After one failed courier, they had sent again, but this time the Courier company didn’t find the tenant at the time of delivery and they DESTROYED the mail. WOW, what if I had just gone for a bath? Do I have to wait for another month? How can they destroy without attempting a second delivery? I have written to nri help desk and they have sent a reply stating they will get back after 8 business days. On the 8th business day, I got a reply saying they were extremly sorry and they are following up on the matter.


It’s been more than 3 months again that I don’t have my password to logon to my account and do some funds transfer.


Friends..........What to do?


Should I stay or leave?
