I read a few reviews here about icici bank.. all of them had almost the same flavour.. was great but not so good anymore...I share the same feeling.. I will state a few experiences... related to ICICI schemes I tried to benefit from..
ICICI Direct : I opened a direct account in summer 2004. Scheme : The charge of Rs. 750 that I had to pay while opening the account will be adjusted against the transactions that I make during the first few months. It never happened. I was charged all the transaction fees and it has not been reverted, 10 months after opening the account. Since I am not in India at present, I could not visit the bank. I wrote to the account manager and there is no reply yet. And I do not find there icicidirect website very user friendly. It’s very difficult to remember what is where. So many times I go to 2-3 tabs before finding the one I need.
Second is related to credit card. There was a scheme where I would get a kool gift( leather trolley bag)... if I spend some specified amount through my card. I did so but never got the gift. I have written to the account manager today. Will update this review with the response. I hope I am just a missed out case and this has not happened to people in general.
I started using ICICI bank in 2002 and have been facing problems ever since. Their mailer sending my pin had gone to the wrong address and had been returned to the bank. When I contacted the branch they said it had been send to the head branch and I need to contact them. I was in Andheri( Mumbai) then, and the head branch is at Nariman Point. I could not go to the head office on a working day. After some argument with the the local branch I was able to get another pin mailed to correct address.
The ICICI bank site is very very slow. I hope they upgrade their servers with the enthusiasm they show in marketing. I had heard that the bank is THE Best in India when I opened the account and I always tried to convince myself that its true. But somehow I think I am very disappointed.
