I would like to discuss a concern related to ICICI 24 hrs. Customer (so-called Customer Care)helpline. A few days ago, I asked phone banking executive that if I deposit cheque in my account from a person of different account, and the cheque gets dishonored, will I be charged for that. The lady politely replied that NO, I wont be charged, if a cheque is deposited in my account from other bank and it gets dishonored.
On the basis of this information, I deposited a cheque in my account, which unfortunately got dishonored and I was charged for the same.
I again called up phone banking executive and this time some other lady picked up, I asked the same query and I got the same reply, that I wont be charged. Then I told her that I am being charged for the same and gave my account number and other details. She made me hold for more than 5 minutes and came back telling me, Sorry, there is a slight change, and I will be charged. In spite of confirming 2 times from them, and getting wrong information, she just said, Sorry Sir, please bear with us.
I mean her remark was very ridiculous.
I asked her to transfer the call to Manager, which she denied and kept on saying, please bear with us, I disconnected and dialed again, this time some other lady picked up call, and I simply asked her that I have a concern and I need to talk to Manager, she transferred the call. Manager also couldnt give me proper reply and simply said she will give feedback to helpline people.
I am not concerned with anybodys feedback, what I am simply concerned is MY MONEY. The amount may be less, but it surely is my HARD EARNED MONEY
I may not be that valuable customer to ICICI, but am not even less too. I and my family have numerous relationships with ICICI.
The matter was credibility of the bank. If this is the way, so-called international standards are followed in an international bank, then I cant say more than this.
My Credibility and relationship with ICICI was affected after this incident and I closed one of my Accounts.
