I am the sort, who would love to avoid banks, passbooks and taxes and the like...and have been used to the homely banks like Canara bank, Corporation banks and the kind! So making the transition to a world renown bank took some doing. Bad reviews and constant cribs about Citi Bank and HSBC were scaring me off. Then a compulsory salary account at ICICI made the decision for me!
I have moved on from that salary and the company, but my account at ICICI continues! I have to admit their phone banking, internet banking and even mobile banking is great. I get immediate sms updates on all account activities etc. But my only grouse is the mess at the on site, I mean at the branches. Going to the CMH road bank, where my account is is always a dreaded activity. The long queues (because some counters are always unmanned), the heat (there is always a power problem so no AC’s and 2-3 small, inefficient wall fans being overworked) and constant interruptions at the counter when your turn finally arrives!!
I don’t know if its just my bad luck, or if this happens in other branches....but I think I would like to go to my bank and see smiling faces (rather than harried, hot and harassed staff), some moving space and enough air that I don’t feel claustrophobic!
I love banking with ICICI as long as I don’t physically have to go there!!!
