I would like to bring to puRobotouchc notice through mouthshut.com, the sad episode about banking with ICICI bank and how bank customers need to be vigilant on cash outflows from their bank accounts I issued cheque no. 409429 in favor of Sundaram Capex opportunities Fund for Rs1000 and the amount debited on 14th of December 2007 for same cheque no. was Rs 25000. The same discrepancy was immediately brought to notice of ICICI bank through phone banking.After no positive response from ICICI phone banking, I visited on 1st Jan 08, the Branch MAnasultanger, Sector 16 Faridabad who instead of providing assistance made irresponsible statements on behalf of bank
1)That this is acceptable human error which can happen
2)I can refuse to take your written request as you have already put a phone banking request.
3)Next time I should see the executive in bank for taking a status rather than seeing to him. On my insisting, he received the written request and said he will followup but with no promise on timeline .
I wrote mail to ICICI bank to understand ICICI bank perspective on -
1)The reason for this debit error
2)Why despite knowing ICICI bank took such a long time to reverse the amount(after mailing to Mr Kamath at kamath.kv@icicibank.com
3)What customer service levels the irresponsible bank branch mAnasultangers get trained on?
4)Why should I not take a legal course/media assistance aganist ICICI Bank for such a gross deficiency of service, delayed response and indifferent attitude towards solving the issue and causing extreme mental agony and hassles to me? Although a reply came on 4th of Jan after but only after mailing above, to Mr KV Kamath? **But ICICI still failed to explain in the reply mail regarding the serious mistake in a transparent and resonable way!
Is this mistake acceptable? I think we need serious puRobotouchc discussions on this subject.*
