I read your review on telemarketeers and truely appreciate what you have done. In fact, I too face the same problems not just with ICICI Bank but with several other banks. It is a shame that the Banks do not understand a simple Protocol " DO NOT CALL ".
I used to get frantic calls from DSAs of the Bank, identifying themselves as the Bank instead, and was tired shouting at them and letting them know that I feel disturbed. Mouthshut members will agree that nowadays the standard of these tele-callers and extremely poor. They talk like illiterate people and dont even know whom they have called up, but they will tell the person attending the call " you have been chosen for a Gold card - free of charge OR you have been chosen to get a pre-approved loan upto Rs. 3 lakhs, etc etc ". This speaks volume about the incompetency and frauds happening in the name of Banks and Banks have no control over it.
The questions that comes to my mind are:-
How come the tele-caller knows my number?
If they have acquired the number from the Banks database, why dont they truthfully introduce themselves as a DSA or Franchisee of the Bank?
Why do bank need front and back copy of Credit Card?
When the Banks know that there is a 3 digit authentication code(confidential) on the back of every card , how can the bank ask for the copy of the card knowing that there is a security threat?
The solution that I have found to this problem is the moment I get a call on my cellphone and the tele-caller says anything, I disconnect the call. This is a proper slap on their face for harassing people on the phone. This is the best way to avoid such calls without increasing your blood pressure trying to explain these jokers to respect your privacy.
Most Important: Stop quoting your mobile numbers in applications.
Cheers!
